challenge.

The challenge was to create a visual identity for a fictional music festival that would capture the excitement and cultural atmosphere of the early 2000s while remaining relevant to a contemporary audience. The branding needed to evoke nostalgia without relying solely on clichés, balancing recognizable references from the era with a fresh and engaging visual language. As part of a team project, the identity had to be flexible enough to work across various applications, including posters, merchandise, website, social media content, and festival wayfinding.

The resulting visual identity embraces the bold, playful, and intentionally kitsch aesthetics associated with early 2000s pop culture. Through vibrant colours, expressive typography, and nostalgic visual references, the branding successfully captures the festival’s carefree atmosphere and reinforces its message of Escape Adulthood. The identity was applied consistently across a range of touchpoints, including promotional posters, merchandise concepts, social media assets, and environmental graphics, creating a cohesive and memorable festival experience. The project demonstrated how nostalgia can be translated into a contemporary visual language while maintaining strong brand recognition across different media.
